Artist Statement
My artistic practice is centered on the exploration of individual experiences and interactions, allowing for a meditative journey that unfolds through creative processes and material experimentation. I engage with a diverse array of mediums, including mixed media—where I artfully incorporate used and found objects that reveal stories of their past lives—watercolor painting, ceramics, and glasswork.

In my creative endeavors, I have come to appreciate the powerful role of play, where the concept of affordance guides my imagination, leading to a harmonious blend of ideas and materials as they materialize in unexpected ways. The materials I choose are often salvaged or discarded items, which not only enhance the visual complexity and texture of my work but also provoke a deeper physical and psychological reaction in those who interact with the pieces. Each object serves as a canvas for exploration, inviting viewers to reflect on themes of memory and transformation.

I create pottery using both wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques, which allows me to delve into a diverse range of forms and styles. My work encompasses a variety of utilitarian pieces, including handcrafted bowls with unique glazes, sturdy mugs that fit comfortably in the hand, and elegant plates adorned with intricate patterns. Each item I produce is carefully crafted with an unwavering attention to detail, ensuring not only aesthetic appeal but also functionality that enhances everyday life. Additionally, I explore more expressive sculptural creations that reflect my personal experiences and artistic vision, incorporating elements inspired by nature and emotion. A particularly captivating aspect of my practice is the fusion of glass and ceramics. While the clay offers a realm for meticulous shaping and intricate detailing, the glass adds an element of unpredictability; it melts and flows in random patterns, creating striking contrasts and surprising outcomes. This relationship between the controlled and the chaotic allows me to embrace the inherent risks involved in kiln work, ultimately celebrating the unexpected beauty that emerges from this dynamic interplay of materials. The ceramic process has become an enriching journey for me, filled with continuous learning and experimentation. As I refine my skills and expand my creative horizons, I find joy in the alchemy of working with clay, transforming raw materials into pieces that resonate with beauty and purpose.
